On this year's theme: Building Climate Resilience: A Nature-Based Approach

In March 2020, the Beaver Institute and Ecotone, Inc. co-hosted the first BeaverCON conference. The event was a huge success. To build on that success, BeaverCON 2022 will again be held near Baltimore from June 14 16, 2022. The conference theme is “Building Climate Resilience: A Nature-Based Approach”.

In recent years an increasing body of knowledge has demonstrated the many ecological and economic benefits of beaver, as well as improved methods to partner with them to restore healthy streams and naturally combat climate change. Beaver-created wetlands improve water quality and storage, mitigate flooding and droughts, sequester carbon, rebuild healthy streams and watersheds, provide fire breaks, increase biodiversity, speed wildfire recovery, and aid in the recovery of endangered and threatened species, including salmon. To maximize these benefits we can and must coexist with beavers.
Both Beavers and Climate Change are topics that are currently generating a great deal of national interest, and for good reason.

BeaverCON 2022 will magnify that attention by gathering international beaver and restoration experts, researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers and advocates to share their experiences and ideas how to partner with beavers to naturally and cost-effectively restore watersheds and reduce climate change damage.

Progressive stream restoration, beaver restoration and management, public policy, and other presentation topics will be offered. This conference is certain to build on the success of BeaverCON 2020 and is expected to draw a large private and public sector audience.

Learn practical, proven techniques from seasoned practitioners.  Return home with solutions that you can bring to your work immediately.
